Broadlands Committee

The Broadlands badminton club committee is nominated and voted in each year at the club’s AGM.

The committee are here to help keep the club running smoothly. If you have any suggestions or questions, please get in touch with the committee via the form at the bottom of this page.

  • Chairman: Charles Tippett

    Charles knows everyone at the club and also within the wider badminton community so the role of Chairman seemed like a natural fit for him.

    The chairman is responsible for:

    • Overseeing the general running and well-being of the Club
    • Chairing meetings
    • Responding to enquiries
  • Secretary: Ellie Siddall

    The secretary is someone who keeps the club sailing smoothly, and needs to be someone with good organisational skills, so we’re delighted to have Ellie on board for this role.

    The secretary is responsible for:

    • Membership database maintenance
    • Managing New Member application/approval process
    • Badminton England Member registration
    • Attend (or arrange for attendance at) League meetings
    • Arrange Committee/General Meetings & keep minutes
    • Members communication
  • Teams Captain: Phil Wright

    Phil is the grand arbiter when it comes to all of our league teams. He liaises with all of the team captains and ensures everything is kept on track in regards to team training, team selections, etc…

    The teams captain is responsible for:

    • Monitoring Team Training Attendance
    • Monitoring match players
    • Tracking league participation (shared with Treasurers)
  • Treasurer: Tania Qoura

    So far the club has not gone into financial ruin, so we assume Tania must be doing a cracking job with the club finances!

    Treasurer responsibilities:

    • Accountable for managing club finances.
    • ⁠Responsible for setting club fees (match, subs, visitor, etc.)
    • Producing annual statement for AGM
    • ⁠Paying club invoices
    • ⁠⁠Collecting visitor fees
    • Collecting subs
    • Collecting match fees
    • ⁠⁠Tracking membership levels
    • ⁠⁠Liaises with Oasis (invoices)
    • ⁠⁠Liaises with Hengrove & training location
    • Badminton England reg (admin)
    • Tracking league participation (shared with Teams Captain)
  • Treasury Assistant: Jacob Chong

    Due to the size of Broadlands, a single treasurer is no longer enough, so Jacob has kindly stepped into the role of Treasury Assistant to help out with the club finances.

    Treasury Assistant responsibilities

    • Support the treasurer with managing club finances
    • Assist in collecting visitor fees, match fees and membership subscriptions
    • Assist with Badminton England registration admin
    • Assist in tracking league participation
  • Bristol Fixtures Secretary: Paul Laidler

    Paul was foolish enough to take on a role that everyone else was trying to avoid. He loves attending the annual fixture meetings to sort out the league dates for Broadland’s numerous teams.

    The Fixtures Secretary is responsible for:

    • Ensuring all the Club’s fixtures are arranged within available dates & League rules
    • Submitting League entry applications
    • Attending fixtures meeting(s) in conjunction with Team Captains
    • Initial player registration with Leagues
    • Maintaining the master fixture list
  • North Somerset Fixtures Secretary: Richy Long

    Richy is happy he avoided Paul’s job as he has fewer teams to worry about in the North Somerset league.

    The Fixtures Secretary is responsible for:

    • Ensuring all the Club’s fixtures are arranged within available dates & League rules
    • Submitting League entry applications
    • Attending fixtures meeting(s) in conjunction with Team Captains
    • Initial player registration with Leagues
    • Maintaining the master fixture list
  • Web Engineer: Liam Jay

    Liam designs, builds, and maintains the club website. His online net skills are much better than his net play.

    The Web Engineer is responsible for:

    • Ensuring the Club’s website stays online and accessible
    • Keeping the website information updated
    • Managing the club’s web hosting and domain name
  • Social Secretary: Position Vacant

    The Social Secretary is responsible for organising and promoting social activities within the club. They make sure everyone has a smashing time.

    The Social Secretary is responsible for:

    • Effectively running regular social activities. This can include working with other committee members. For example, the treasurer if a budget is required for an event.
    • To promote/communicate upcoming events to all club members.
    • To book venues/places for any social activities as required.
